1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) defines the standards of behaviour expected of all users of the Markplain platform, including buyers, sellers, and merchants. It supplements the Terms of Service and forms part of the binding agreement between you and Markplain.
2. Platform Integrity
- Do not post duplicate listings for the same item
- Do not inflate prices artificially or engage in price manipulation
- Do not use the platform to gather personal information about other users
- Do not attempt to move transactions off-platform to circumvent safety features
- Do not create fake reviews or testimonials
- Do not use automated tools or bots to scrape listings, create accounts, or interact with the platform
3. Communication Standards
- Treat all users with respect — harassment, threats, and abusive language are prohibited
- Do not share personal contact details in messages to bypass the platform messaging system
- Do not send unsolicited commercial messages (spam) to other users
- Do not impersonate Markplain staff, other users, or public figures
- Report suspicious or abusive messages using the in-platform report function
4. Prohibited Content
- Pornographic, sexually explicit, or adult content of any kind
- Content that promotes hatred, discrimination, or violence against any person or group
- Content that promotes or facilitates illegal activity
- Content that infringes the intellectual property rights of any third party
- Content that contains viruses, malware, or malicious code
- Content that is defamatory, obscene, or offensive
5. Security
- Do not attempt to access any account other than your own
- Do not probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Markplain platform
- Do not attempt to disrupt platform services through denial-of-service attacks or similar
- Report security vulnerabilities responsibly to service@markplain.co.za — do not publish them publicly
6. Consequences of Violation
- Warning — first minor violation
- Temporary suspension of account (1–30 days) — repeated or moderate violations
- Permanent ban — serious violations or repeated offences
- Referral to law enforcement — criminal conduct
Markplain reserves the right to remove content and act against accounts without prior notice in cases of serious violation.
